Home maintenance
Replace a filter three months after it was actually replaced, even if the previous task was overdue.
A guide for Apple Reminders users
Some tasks should not come back on a fixed calendar date. Their next due date should begin when the work is really done.
Finish it on Thursday and the next reminder is still only four days away.
The full interval starts when you complete the task, not when it was originally due.
Calendar-based repeats are right for appointments and deadlines. They are less natural for flexible routines: if a task is completed late, its next occurrence can arrive too soon. Repeat after completion keeps the intended space between two completions.
The feature is especially useful when the interval matters more than a particular weekday or date.
Replace a filter three months after it was actually replaced, even if the previous task was overdue.
Water a plant or clean a room a set number of days after the last completion.
Schedule the next review from the day you finished the current one, without compressing the interval.
Complete is an iPhone app built directly on your existing Apple Reminders. It adds completion-based repeats without moving your tasks into a separate account or service.
Create a new task or open one of your existing Apple Reminders in Complete.
Select “After completion” and choose the number of days, weeks, months, or years.
Mark it done in Complete or from a Complete notification. The next reminder is dated from that moment.
Apple Reminders remains the source of truth. Complete works with the reminders stored in your iCloud, so they remain available to Apple’s apps and system features.
Complete is available worldwide for iPhone. Try it free for seven days and keep using your existing Apple Reminders.
